Hi darlings,
You're going to love this blog, I promise.
Why, you ask?
Well because I am writing it.
No I am not being stupidly narcissistic even though it wouldn't be a surprise. I mean that I aim my blog towards the fresh, young writers. The ones who probably don't even have a book published yet. The ones who are looking desperately for any tit-bits, any tips on how to get published because, if you're like me, it's a life-long dream.
I know you.
I am you.
The thing is, I act like I am a seasoned, published author but frankly I'm far from it so I hope you can see yourself in me. And *elaborate hand movement* I'm Gen Z so that means I use the word yeet too much for it to be healthy.
Anyway.
Let's get on with it.
How to find a good publisher
1. Identify your genre.
What type of book have you written? Your book may not fit neatly into an obvious genre aka science fiction, historical fiction, crime or romance. Your genre may simply be literary fiction. Or it may be a combination, such as sci-fi-horror or romantic comedy. Because, y'know. Life.
2. Showcase your writing.
If you want to get noticed, you're gonna need a platform for people to see it. For instance (Uh oh shameless self promotion) I have a wattled account and this blog. (If you're interested my wattpad is unlucky_fortune. Just sayin')
3. Have targets.
Aim for something. Get that chapter done by tonight. Finish by Christmas. Say what you want about a deadline, I for one find them very helpful. There is no way I would have any finished novels if I didn't set myself a deadline.
4. Find an agent!
Yeah, yeah, agents cost money, I know. That's the only reason I don't have one, but if you can afford it, it is the best thing to do. These agents know their stuff. They can really help improve your writing and it's great to get knowledgeable feedback.
I hope these four tips help you get yourself out there! Don't forget me when you're famous :-)
