The music was jazz, the lights were low and the men were pretty and plentiful. Oskar Fenn had never been to a gay bar before. The man who had brought him here, John, Oskar thought his name was, beckoned him over. "What do you think?" he asked. "Wow," was Oskar's answer. "It is something, isn't it?"
John wasn't wrong. In fact, it was more than something. There were men dancing together, kissing in corners, laughing and drinking. Oskar had never felt quite so free to feel and do as he pleased. Obviously, that had to be ruined.
A sudden siren screamed from outside. Oskar froze in shock as the men around him stopped what they were doing and stared in horror at each other. And then the call went up.
"POLICE!" An unknown man shouted. "RUN, NOW!"
John turned to Oskar.
Oskar tried to move but his limbs weren't working. Panicking, he felt his arms being roughly grabbed and yanked behind his back. The cold metal of the handcuffs snapped him back to the present as the harsh hand of reality slapped him across the face. He was being arrested. What was his boss going to say about this?
He was shoved outside, and then roughly thrown into the back of a police car. His expression hadn't changed. He only felt numb shock as he locked eyes with John, sitting opposite him.
"What now?" he asked weakly.
"Now?" John said surprised.
"We're fucked, old chap."
